  5. INTRODUCTION
  6. ============

  8. The DynIP  Client  allows  you  to  register  a  personalized
  9. Internet name that can be used by others  to connect to  your
  10. computer. Once you have an Internet Name for your computer the
  11. uses are nearly unlimited!  You can run a web, FTP, chat, IRC
  12. or mail server etc. 
  13.  
  14. Your  personalized  Internet name  will be  available  within  
  15. minutes after running the DynIP Client program. Your Internet
  16. name   can   then   be   used   by  anyone, in  any  existing
  17. Internet  application,  to  refer  to  your  computer. You no
  18. longer need to post your dynamic IP address to a web page, or 
  19. email  your  friends  your  current  IP address. You can even
  20. submit  your  Internet  name   to  search  engines  to  bring
  21. customers to your site.

  23. The  DynIP  Client  can  be  used  with  any kind of Internet 
  24. connection,  including dial-up,  cable-modem,  ISDN, wireless 
  25. modem or a LAN connection.
  26.  
  27. The  DynIP  Client  also   includes  features  to  keep  your
  28. connection alive, synchronize your computer to a time
  29. server  on  the  Internet  and  display  online  time and ISP 
  30. connection charges on a convenient desktop display.

  32. You can evaluate the service FREE for 30 days.

  37. your clock from being updated automatically.

  49. ò You  can  now  specify  your  offline  IP  address  in  the
  50. Connection Tab. This is the IP address  that  is returned for
  51. your Internet name when you are not connected to the Internet

  53. ò Running the DynIP Client as an NT service when using dial-
  54. up networking is now supported (NT version only).

  56. ò You  can  now make  changes to your private domain settings
  57. from within the DynIP Client control panel.  This  allows you
  58. to maintain aliases (CNAME) and mail preferences (MX) entries 
  59. for your domain (DynIP Pro Service only).

  61. ò A  Keep Alive  feature  has  been  added to prevent you from
  62. being disconnected  during  periods  of  inactivity (Plus and
  63. Pro service only).

  65. ò More domain selections are available for you to
  66. register your Internet name under. (Plus and Pro service
  67. only).

  69. ò You can now run a script or batch file whenever you connect
  70. or disconnect from the Internet. The scripting language makes
  71. use  of  the  universal  BASIC syntax. (Plus and Pro service
  72. only).

  77. ò Dashes (-) in the hostname portion of the Internet name are
  78. now permitted.

  80. ò If you have enabled the Time Synchronization feature, your
  81. computer's clock  is now synchronized to a time server every
  82. 24-hours,  or  whenever  you   reconnect  to  the  Internet.

  84. ò You can now restrict  access  to  the  tabs  in  the DynIP
  85. Client  Properties  tool.   This   is   useful   for  system
  86. administrators who do not want their users to be able to see
  87. or change some (or all) of the settings of the DynIP Client.

  90. UNINSTALLING
  91. ============

  93. To remove the  DynIP Client  from your computer, first delete
  94. your  existing  Internet  name  registration  by starting the
  95. DynIP Client Properties Tool  (in the  Windows Control Panel)
  96. and  pressing  the  "Delete..."  push-button.  You need to be
  97. connected  to the Internet to do this.  After  your  Internet
  98. name  has  been  removed,  close  the DynIP Client Properties
  99. Tool and the DynIP Client. Then, select "Add/Remove Programs"
  100. from  the  Windows  Control  Panel.  Click  the "DynIP Client
  101. v4.0"  selection,   then   press  the Add/Remove push-button.
  102. Follow the prompts to remove the software.
